Musician named as stabbing victim as tributes pour in - man arrested for murder

The man at the centre of a murder investigation in Moss Side has been identified by devastated friends as Dre Brown. Officers rushed to Raby Street at around 11pm on Friday following reports of a stabbing. A man in his 30s was rushed to hospital, where he tragically passed away.

Friends have since named the victim as Dre Brown, whose full first name is understood to have been Adrian. Mr Brown was a musician who performed under the name StanaMan. He is believed to have left behind three children. An outpouring of tributes has flooded social media in his memory.

One friend wrote: "RIP, Dre. You will be sadly missed. Gone far too soon. You were such a kind soul and amazing father." Another described him as a "good kid". A pal wrote: "Rest in peace, Dre". Natalie Brownlie posted: "RIP Dre."

Jamie Whitehead said: "R.I.P Dre you was a good kid had a few laffs with you in the Claremont rest easy mate." Rheannee Blake posted: "Can't believe it man he always had a smile on his face r.i.p stana man."

Marrisa Leigh posted: "Waking up to this news this morning honestly am speechless. You never really know how much life we have left. From God we came, and to Him we shall return. Rest easy. Dre Brown."

David Waite said: "Rest in peace Dre. Another life taken too soon." Sean Daly added: "Awww RIP Kidda, gonna miss that smile."

Greater Manchester Police have confirmed an 18-year-old man was arrested following the incident. He remained in custody on Saturday, being questioned by detectives on suspicion of murder.

A police cordon remained in place on Raby Street, near Westwood Street, on Saturday afternoon, with a forensic tent erected within the secured area.

Forensics officers were seen meticulously examining the scene, with evidence markers positioned along the street.

A GMP spokesperson said: "Officers responded to an incident in Raby Street, Moss Side following reports of an assault at around 11pm last night (08/05/26).

"One man aged in his 30s had injuries consistent with a stabbing was and taken to hospital, where he sadly died shortly after.

"Our thoughts remain with the victim's family, who are being supported by specialist officers. One man, aged 18, has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody for questioning. Enquiries are ongoing."
