Mumbai: India cricketers Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shafali Verma have been issued notices by the National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA) for allegedly missing scheduled doping tests.

According to reports, the notices were issued under the “whereabouts failure” rule after the players were not present at the declared locations during the scheduled tests.

Both players have been given an opportunity to explain the matter. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has also been informed about the development.

The notices mark the first recorded whereabouts failures for both cricketers, who are part of NADA’s Registered Testing Pool (RTP).

Under NADA rules, athletes included in the RTP must provide details of their location and time availability for out-of-competition dope testing. A Doping Control Officer (DCO) visits the declared location during the specified period to collect samples. If the athlete is not available at the declared place, it is treated as a missed test under anti-doping regulations.

According to the notices, the DCO was scheduled to conduct Yashasvi Jaiswal’s doping test on December 17 last year, while Shafali Verma’s test was scheduled on November 7. In both cases, the players were reportedly not found at the locations they had declared.

Reports said NADA later sought explanations from both players, but no response was submitted.

A single missed test is not considered an anti-doping violation. However, three whereabouts failures within a 12-month period can amount to a violation of anti-doping rules. If a player fails to defend themselves before NADA’s disciplinary panel, they could face a suspension of up to two years.
