Tensions Rise in Hapur District Following Clash During Maharana Pratap Jayanti Procession

On Saturday, tensions escalated in Hapur district, Uttar Pradesh, after a clash between two groups led to stone-pelting during a procession. Officials reported that several individuals sustained injuries, prompting an increase in security measures in the affected area.


According to authorities, the incident occurred in the Dhaulana area of Dehra village, where a procession was being held to commemorate the birth anniversary of Maharana Pratap, a ruler from Rajputana. In response to the unrest, security has been heightened, and senior officials have arrived on-site to monitor the situation.


Details of the Incident

An official speaking to reporters explained that the procession was taking place in Dehra village under the jurisdiction of Dhaulana police station. A dispute arose among some individuals over purchasing gutkha from a shop, which quickly escalated into a physical altercation, leading to stone-throwing. The police intervened, arrested two individuals, and managed to restore order. Additionally, a flag march was conducted, urging residents to assist in maintaining law and order in the district.

The official stated that the situation is under control, and efforts are underway to identify those involved in the incident. Reports indicate that two to three individuals were injured, and some vehicles were damaged. Surveillance is being conducted using drones, and strict action will be taken against those responsible for the unrest. Maharana Pratap's birth anniversary is celebrated across India every year on May 9. Earlier in the day, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath extended greetings to the nation on this occasion, paying tribute to the Rajput ruler known for his valor and sacrifice. He emphasized that the courage and dedication shown in defending the honor and pride of the motherland will inspire future generations to stand firm against injustice and uphold nationalism.
