Yuzvendra Chahal was in the limelight yet again for his absurd behaviour when a social media post went viral claiming the leg-spinner was vaping on a flight journey with the Punjab Kings team.

The controversy was highlighted when a user on the platform X (formerly Twitter) shared screenshots and clips from Arshdeep Singh's vlog that was posted on YouTube. As per the allegations going viral, the Punjab Kings players were on their way from Ahmedabad to Hyderabad for the SRH vs PBKS IPL 2026 match when this incident was apparently caught on camera.

Now, after this incident, the PBKS spinner has been facing massive backlash for this behaviour. Among them, the former Indian cricketer and spinner Laxman Sivaramakrishnan has demanded strict action against Chahal, citing that vaping is illegal in India.

As the use and sale of e-cigarettes is prohibited in India. Sivaramakrishnan compared a fine of 25% to peanuts. He posted on his X handle to slam Chahal for this incident.

Sivaramakrishnan posted:

"Vape is banned in India. Should be behind bars. What is the point in having Laws and not implementing them. 25% of match fees is peanuts. What if a regular person had done this, What would the action be?"

Yuzvendra Chahal has been a hot topic these days, often being in the limelight for his off-field incidents. Recently, he filed a defamation case against Kolkata-based model, actress, and influencer Taniya Chatterjee after a controversy.

Chahal is having a mixed IPL season so far, going on and off with his performances. In 10 IPL 2026 games, he has taken 8 wickets so far at a bowling average of 35.75 and an economy of 9.53.
