David Miller-one of the four overseas players dropped by the Delhi Capitals from their playing eleven in the last two games of IPL 2026 has expressed his frustration over the exclusion. However the experienced South African acknowledged the importance of team composition and expressed his will to support the team even from the bench.
In their previous fixture on Wednesday against the Kolkata Knight Riders the Delhi Capitals lost yet another match by a narrow margin, registering their fifth consecutive home loss in the tournament. KKR secured an important victory against the home team thanks to a spectacular century from Finn Allen, which guided them to a dominant win.
Miller an experienced Player in the IPL since 2012 found himself out of the playing eleven once again with Pathum Nissanka selected to open the innings for Delhi along with pacers Mitchell Starc and Lungi Ngidi as overseas players.

Miller opens on being benched
Speaking ahead of the match against KKR Miller admitted it was a tough pill to swallow for any player to be excluded from the playing XI.
Miller said :
"Obviously, it's frustrating. You always want to play every game, but this is the IPL. The makeup of a team is extremely important when you only have four overseas players allowed in the eleven. As a player who has played the game for a long time, this isn't my first IPL so I completely understand the team's situation. I will continue to provide positive input to the rest of the squad be supportive of everyone, and contribute in any way I can to help the team."
Miller further added :
"I am staying ready and prepared-that is what any player would want to do whether or not they are in the playing eleven. I am hoping for another chance to prove my worth to the side again."
A tough IPL for Delhi Capitals and Miller
IPL 2026 has been the one to forget for both the Delhi Capitals and the left-handed batter. So far he has only aggregated 123 runs from 7 games at a strike rate of 146.42. Even though he remained not-out on four occasions, his best score of 41* off 20 balls came against Gujarat Titans in the IPL 2026. Delhi Capitals is also having a disastrous season in the points table its chances for playoffs hang by a thread thanks to their recent slump in home form.
