Piers Morgan blasted "the most shambolic Government I have ever seen" as he called for Sir Keir Starmer to "go" in the wake of the local elections. The broadcaster hit out at the Prime Minister for a "series of broken promises and U-turns on an unprecedented scale".
His attack came during an appearance on the BBC's Question Time after Labour's electoral drubbing. He said of Sir Keir: "Of course, he should go. Let's be honest, this has been an absolute shambles, a shambles."
Turning to the audience, Morgan asked: "Let's do a quick test - who here feels better off under Labour?"
When no one put their hands up or called out, Morgan went on: "Nobody, not one of you.
"Yet they came into power two years ago with a thumping majority and all of this talk of change and hope.
"They'd had 14 years to think about what they would do if they came into power. And what did they do? Day one, Keir Starmer says things are going to get worse before they get better, well he wasn't kidding, we should have taken him at his word then.
"Since then we've had a series of broken promises and U-turns on an unprecedented scale. It's almost like every policy initiative Labour has come up with they've immediately done a screeching U-turn when the public has gone what is this nonsense.
"It's been in my lengthy period in the media this has been the most shambolic Government I have ever seen.
"That is why you have now Reform surging around the country. I give them credit; in a few years, they've done this, it's an amazing achievement.
"But the difficult part for them will come now because I don't think people are voting for Reform's plethora of policies because we don't know most of them.
"But we also know that they are a product of persistently failing Governments going back nearly two decades. You're seeing the same with the emergence of the Greens."
It comes after Thursday's local elections saw Labour lose hundreds of councillors in England and suffer humiliation in Wales and Scotland.
The PM has vowed to listen to voters but refused to shift "left or right" despite pressure to change course and backbench calls for a new leader following the mauling.
