New Delhi, May 9 (Read) — Redmi is reportedly preparing to expand its smartphone portfolio with new flagship devices. Reports suggest the company is working on the Redmi Note 17 series and Redmi K100 series for the Chinese market.
While the Redmi Note 17 lineup is expected to launch in July or August, the Redmi K100 series may arrive in October this year.
According to a recent leak shared by tipster Digital Chat Station, a mystery Redmi flagship phone could feature a large 7-inch display with 2K resolution. The phone is also tipped to pack a battery larger than 10,000mAh.
The leaked specifications also mention flagship-level features, including an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint sensor, metal frame and IP68/IP69-rated dust and water resistance.
Earlier leaks had claimed that the Redmi K100 Pro Max could come with a 2nm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro chipset. However, the latest leak suggests the device may instead use a 3nm chipset.
At present, there are no reports of a new 3nm Snapdragon 8-series chip launching this year. Reports suggest both Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 and Gen 6 Pro could be based on a 2nm process.
Two other 3nm chipsets are also reportedly under development, including the Dimensity 9500 Plus and Xiaomi’s in-house Xring O3 chipset.
Reports further suggest that the standard Redmi K100 may feature a 6.6-inch display and an 8,500mAh battery. This has led to speculation that the newly leaked mystery phone could be a third model in the Redmi K100 lineup.
