Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's exclusion from the Met Gala guest list saw them slammed on Sky News as contributor Louise Roberts used a one-word putdown, branding them "non-starters". Discussing the notable absentees from the glittering guest list with Sky News host Rita Panahi, she praised organiser Anna Wintour.

"She prizes loyalty above everything else," she said, "and I think she's, in a way, to be commended for that, because clearly she's very close to the King and Queen Camilla, so therefore Megan and Harry are non-starters. And they've never been invited. I was quite surprised when I read that. I mean, you've got a blue-blood Prince living in California, even he doesn't get an invite to the Met Gala, which I thought was astonishing....I think that's really interesting, that the Met Gala used to be about fashion and couture, and the social standing, now it's a loyalty test," she said.

She continued: "It's got a bit of a high school cafeteria vibe as well. Like who's in, who's in and who's out, and Anna wields all power. But I do admire her steadfast dedication to loyalty. There needs to be more of that in celebrity land," Roberts reflected.

Panahi chimed in: "I think it must particularly sting for Harry and Meghan, because, let's be honest, it wasn't just A-listers this year.

"There were plenty of B and C listers - I had no idea who they were, so for them to miss a list like that, given how self-delighted they are, that would sting."

The snub was all the more noticeable this year as Meghan has been trying to make inroads into the fashion industry.

She has been posting her outfits on OneOff - an AI-powered fashion platform in which she has invested and from which she earns a percentage of sales.

However, the project got off to a bad start when the Duchess received huge backlash when she advertised the $2,000 ensemble when she met survivors and first responders at Sydney's Bondi Beach, where 15 people died in an antisemitic attack in December 2025.

It was later quietly removed after a wave of criticism over the decision to monetise her appearance at the scene of a massacre.
