The wait for flights from Noida Airport is finally coming to an end. Ticket bookings for the Noida International Airport, located in Jewar, will commence this evening, while the first flight service is scheduled to take off on June 15. On airline and travel platforms, this airport will be identified by the code DXN.
According to Yamuna International Airport Private Limited, following the approval of the Aerodrome Security Programme by the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS), June 15 has been officially designated as the date for the commencement of flight operations. The inaugural flight will operate between Noida and Lucknow.
**IndiGo Airlines to Lead the Launch**
In the initial phase, IndiGo Airlines will launch its services. Subsequently, other airlines such as Akasa Air and Air India Express are also expected to commence flight operations from this airport. It is reported that during a recent board meeting of the Yamuna Authority, a proposal was tabled to initiate flight operations connecting 17 different cities. As per regulations, ticket bookings typically open 30 days before the commencement of flight operations from an airport; consequently, ticket sales are expected to begin this evening. Passengers will be able to book tickets through the respective airlines' official websites, mobile applications, and authorized travel portals.
**Airport to be Identified by DXN Code**
Noida International Airport will be identified by the code DXN. This code has already been visible on online travel platforms and flight search engines for the past few months. With the commencement of ticket bookings, this code will become even more significant for passengers. Meanwhile, the first phase of the airport's construction has been completed across an area of approximately 1,334 hectares. This includes a 3,900-meter-long runway, a modern terminal building, an Air Traffic Control (ATC) tower, and a cargo hub. Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the airport project on March 28.
**Preparations Underway for Bus Services**
The launch of Noida International Airport is expected to alleviate passenger congestion at Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA). Passengers from Western Uttar Pradesh, the Delhi-NCR region, and neighboring states will be the direct beneficiaries of this development. Concurrently with the commencement of flight operations, bus services will also be introduced. Preparations have been finalized to operate bus routes connecting the airport to Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Haryana, and Uttarakhand.
The Transport Corporation has already begun finalizing its routes to ensure convenient connectivity for passengers traveling to and from the airport. Officials believe that the commencement of airport operations will generate new employment opportunities in the region. Sectors related to hospitality, travel, taxi services, logistics, and trade are expected to benefit. In the future, this airport could emerge as a major aviation hub in North India.
