In the newly formed district of Kotputli-Bahrod, located in the Viratnagar area of Rajasthan, a joyous wedding celebration turned chaotic when over 100 individuals, including children, fell ill after consuming sweets. Initial investigations suggest that the cause was food poisoning. Authorities reported that the incident occurred in the Dhani Gaskhan area, where 105 villagers complained of vomiting and abdominal pain after eating the sweets served during the ceremony. The sweets were distributed among local residents last night.
Medical Response and Investigation
Affected individuals were admitted to the community health center in Aatela. Subsequently, doctors referred 16 children and 14 adults to the Shahpura community health center for further treatment. Sub-Divisional Officer Kapil Kumar Upadhyay stated that most patients were discharged after showing improvement in their condition. He added, 'The food safety department has collected samples of the food items and sent them for laboratory testing.' Following the incident, officials from the administrative and health departments arrived at the scene.
Concerns During Wedding Season
During the wedding season, large quantities of sweets are often prepared. The rise in temperature and lack of hygiene can lead to rapid spoilage of food, resulting in such significant incidents.
