He has told his MLAs that AIADMK will ultimately form the next government in the state. This time no party has got absolute majority in Tamil Nadu. Actor-politician Vijay’s party ‘Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam’ has won 108 seats, but at least 10 more MLAs are needed to form the government. Due to lack of majority figure, the Governor has also not given Vijay the opportunity to form the government.

The AIADMK has currently accommodated its MLAs in a luxurious resort in the neighboring state of Puducherry. According to party sources, Palaniswami met party MLAs at the resort late Thursday night and discussed in detail the rapidly changing political situation in Tamil Nadu. He was reportedly elected the leader of the AIADMK legislature party during the meeting. MLAs submitted signed letters supporting his leadership.

Sources said that Palaniswami has instilled confidence in the MLAs and asked them to ‘wait patiently’. Along with this, Palaniswami has said that only AIADMK will form the government in Tamil Nadu. AIADMK is a constituent of the NDA, which has won 47 seats in the 2026 assembly elections. Out of total 47 MLAs of the party, about 28 MLAs are currently staying in a resort in Puducherry. AMMK MLA S., who won the election from Mannargudi. Kamaraj is also reportedly staying with the AIADMK camp.

Sources said the resort rooms have been booked for the next seven days, and the MLAs have reportedly been instructed not to leave the resort premises without taking prior permission.
