Bajaj Auto: Indian two-wheeler company Bajaj Auto has removed Bajaj Avenger 160 Street from its website, confirming the discontinuation of this entry-level cruiser bike. Along with this, the company has listed Bajaj Avenger 220 Street on the website, which indicates that this bike can be launched in the Indian market soon. Currently, the ex-showroom price of Avenger 220 Cruiser is around ₹ 1.29 lakh.
Why was Avenger 160 Street closed?
The Avenger 160 Street was popular among customers who wanted a cruiser style bike in a low budget. It had a 160.4cc single-cylinder engine, which generated power of 14.8 bhp and torque of 13.7 Nm. However, the company is now focusing on making space for more powerful and better performing bikes, due to which this model was discontinued.
What is special in the new Avenger 220 Street?
Avenger 220 Street is going to make a comeback after about 6 years. It will have a 220cc oil-cooled, single-cylinder engine, which will give about 19 hp power and 17.5 Nm torque. The company can offer it in two attractive colors like Ebony Black and Cocktail Wine Red.
Difference between Street and Cruiser variants
The street variant looks sportier and more modern than the Cruze model. It has matte black finish, small handlebar and design without windshield, which is considered better for riding in the city. At the same time, it has been provided with alloy wheels and tubeless tyres, whereas wire-spoke wheels are available in Cruze.
Features and Specifications
The new Avenger 220 Street has a 13-litre fuel tank, 737 mm seat height, 169 mm ground clearance and a weight of around 160 kg. For suspension, telescopic forks are available at the front and adjustable dual shock absorbers at the rear. For braking, front disc and rear drum brakes are provided with single-channel ABS. The company has listed this bike with the tag ‘coming soon’, from which it is expected that its price and launch date will be revealed soon.
