Veteran Congress leader Mani Shankar Aiyar has expressed his displeasure over the Tamil Nadu Vetri Kazhagam (TVK) and Congress alliance in Tamil Nadu. He has described this alliance as very bad. Manishkanr Aiyar says that this is opportunism, not politics. Mani Shankar Aiyar has said that this step is like giving an opportunity to the ‘communal’ Bharatiya Janata Party’ in a state dominated by Dravidian politics.
Mani Shankar Aiyar says that this step of Congress could prove to be the worst suicide goal in Dravid’s game of ‘political football’. Mani Shankar Aiyar said that he could not imagine that the forefathers of Congress would have given their blessings to such ‘politics of opportunism’.
Mani Shankar Aiyar said in an interview with Bhasha, ‘This is an unforgivable violation of Mahatma Gandhi’s 1925 statement that Swaraj should be a government based on morality.’
What is bothering Mani Shankar Iyer?
Mani Shankar Iyer has also written an article in The Hindu. He said, ‘Has Chanakya or Mahatma Gandhi won in changing Congress partners in Tamil Nadu? Congress won five seats, it won these seats not on its own but entirely on the strength of its decades-long partnership with DMK.
‘Opportunism is the essence of Chanakya politics’
Mani Shankar Aiyar said, ‘Opportunism is the essence of Chanakya politics. This was not the politics of truth of Gandhi’s Congress.
