Fans of a critically-acclaimed drama starring James Norton are running out of time to catch it on streaming.
Nowhere Special first hit cinemas back in 2021 and remains the highest-rated project of Norton's career to date.
In the tear-jerking film, Norton portrays John, a 35-year-old single father who discovers he has just months to live after being diagnosed with cancer. Desperate to safeguard the future of his young son Michael, he dedicates his remaining time to finding the perfect adoptive family for the four-year-old, portrayed by Daniel Lamont.
Written, produced and directed by Uberto Pasolini, the film is currently available to watch on BBC iPlayer in the UK - but time is running out, as it is due to leave the platform on 1 June.
Nowhere Special made its world premiere at the 77th Venice International Film Festival in September 2020, where it garnered widespread critical acclaim, reports the Mirror.
The film currently boasts a perfect 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, based on 63 reviews, cementing it as the best-reviewed work of James Norton's career to date.
Critics have been effusive in their praise for the deeply moving picture, with FlixChatter Film Blog writing: "The story is inherently heartbreaking, but Pasolini doesn't drown the film with bleakness. Norton is exceptional here and the father-son relationship feels authentic."
Culture Cabinet remarked: "Nowhere Special is a beautiful testament to the love between a father and son, the lengths that a parent will go to for their child, even while suffering themselves...while Norton's performance is a perfect centrepiece for the story."
IndieWire observed: "That is a five-hankie premise if ever there was one, but in the hands of writer-director Uberto Pasolini and lead actor Norton, it truly becomes a movie, not just a concept masquerading as one."
Writer and director Uberto previously offered further perspective on John's role and the heartbreaking circumstances he confronts in the film.
He told Seventh-Row: "When I was attempting to imagine what I would have done in his place, emotionally protecting my child to minimise the trauma was the one thing I could think of.
"Of course, in the few weeks we spend with him, John gradually understands that he cannot and should not hide the truth from Michael but find a way to gently share it. And that is, in a way, what the film does with the audience."
Nowhere Special is available to watch on BBC iPlayer until June 1.
