A major police investigation has been launched after a woman was allegedly raped on a Dorset beach. Boscombe Beach was cordoned off after officers received reports that a woman had been attacked at around 10pm on Thursday, May 7.
Detectives and uniformed officers were seen searching the beachfront and surrounding sand areas as enquiries continued today.
Dorset Police said specialist officers are supporting the alleged victim while investigators work to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
Residents have also been warned to expect an increased police presence in the area while the investigation remains ongoing. The force confirmed no arrests have been made.
A spokesperson said: "We received a report that a man had raped a woman on Boscombe beach at around 10pm on Thursday 7 May 2026.
"An investigation is underway and detectives are speaking with the victim to provide support and establish the full circumstances of the incident.
"A cordon has been put in place to allow for enquiries to be carried out.
"There will be an increased police presence in the area as the investigation continues. No arrests have been made."
