Isha Ambani Revives Vintage Chanel

Ambani turned out in a burgundy Chanel Haute Couture saree gown laced with golden accents. The silken drape with its neat pleats falling from the waist and a symmetrical stretch draped over the shoulder was a dead ringer for the saree's silhouette. Plain in expanse but regal in impact, it was the statement golden accents by the border, also wrapping around the waist, that grounded the look. Incidentally, Ambani's look for the evening was a recreation of French luxury fashion house Chanel's look number 72 from the Spring Summer collection of 1989 making it a truly regal throwback. Sharing pictures of Ambani's Haute Couture moment on her Instagram, stylist and fashion connoisseur Anaita Shroff Adajania explained: "Isha in a Chanel Haute Couture sari gown, a custom recreation of their iconic look 72 from the spring summer 1989 collection."

This is Isha Ambani's Second Global Saree Moment Within the Week

Earlier this week, Ambani attended the Met Gala 2026, walking up the hallowed steps of New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art, dripping in diamonds and Indian craftsmanship, designed by Gaurav Gupta. She walked the Met steps in a gold tissue saree, hand painted by artisans from Swadesh. This was paired with a blouse, studded in 1800 carats of diamonds along with emeralds, polki and kundan, further accentuated with heirloom jewellery from mother Nita Ambani's private collection. A sculptural resin-draped cape formed a couture-coded halo over her with a Subodh Gupta mango sculpture stealing the show.

Prior to Met Monday, Ambani had stunned in a svelte and strapless couture gown - the work of Manish Malhotra and Swadesh - in which each band brought together the artistry of Indian craftsmanship. The brocade and handwoven textiles drew all the attention in this look across the palette of reds, golds and earthy-neutral tones.
