Boney Kapoor and Sridevi’s relationship in the 1990s has been one of the most talked-about affairs in Bollywood. At that time, the producer was married to  and had two children, Arjun Kapoor and Anshula Kapoor. While working together, he developed feelings for Sridevi, and the two later decided to marry. The situation deeply affected his first family, Mona and the children. In interviews, both Boney and Arjun have spoken about the difficult period. Now, a close friend of Mona has shared how she reacted when she first learned about Boney and Sridevi’s relationship.

In an interview with Bollywood Thikana, singer Jaspinder Narula recalled recording Judaai's famous song Mujhe Ek Pal Chain Na Aaye, which marked her Bollywood debut as a playback singer. She said that before the recording, she was told the film had an unusual and emotional story. The song featured Sridevi in a sequence where she convinces Anil Kapoor to marry again for money.

Jaspinder, who later became close to Mona, shared that the latter once told her about the painful time during the song’s recording. She explained that while one family was celebrating new beginnings, another was going through emotional breakdown. Mona reportedly told her, "You were singing inside, and I was crying outside, sitting on the stairs of Super Sound (studio) when I found out."

 

Boney revealed last year that he himself informed first wife Mona about his relationship with  i. He recalled that he had openly confessed the situation to her. He even shared that she had purchased the wedding rings for both him and Sridevi.

He added that he tried to be honest with his wife about his feelings for Sirdevi and the circumstances. Boney also spoke about the emotional difficulty of managing relationships with both sides of his family, saying he often felt torn. He mentioned that while trying to support Sridevi, he also made efforts to stay connected with his children and family responsibilities.

Boney and Sridevi later had two daughters, Janhvi Kapoor and Khushi Kapoor. After Sridevi’s passing, the members of the Kapoor family have grown closer over time. Despite a difficult past, they are now often seen sharing a warm and friendly bond at family gatherings.

Meanwhile, Arjun continues to remember his mom, Mona Shourie Kapoor, with love. He keeps sharing   for her on social media.
