On the occasion of World Red Cross Day, a speech competition was organized by the Red Cross Society branch Triveniganj on Friday in the Anupalal Yadav College Auditorium located at the headquarters. The program started by paying floral tributes to the portrait of Red Cross founder Jean Henry Dunant on his birth anniversary by the SDM, college principal, Red Cross officials, members and students.

On this occasion, a speech competition was organized on the topic “Keeping humanity alive” among the students from different schools. The participants presented their views on the purpose of Red Cross, importance of human service and social cooperation. In the competition, Akanksha Kumari stood first, Ashfaq Alam stood second and Palak Aggarwal stood third. The winners were honored with diaries, pens and other prizes by the SDM, Principal, Chairman and Secretary.

Red Cross Branch President cum Sub-Divisional Officer Abhishek Kumar said that World Red Cross Day is celebrated by volunteers with the aim of helping the needy people and honoring their contribution. He said that Red Cross Society works to serve humanity in every situation. The objective of the organization is to promote human values, provide relief in times of disaster, strengthen health services and develop a sense of cooperation and sensitivity in the society. He appealed to the youth to actively participate in activities like social service and blood donation.
Red Cross Chairman Manoj Roshan said that Red Cross is an international humanitarian organization, which was founded by Jean Henry Dunant. His birthday, 8 May, is celebrated as Red Cross Day all over the world. The main objective of the organization is to help the injured, victims and disaster affected people.

Principal of the college, Dr. Hemant Kumar, while informing the students about the history of Red Cross, said that the spirit of humanity and service is the biggest strength of the society. He said that students should also discharge social responsibilities along with education. Helping the needy and developing the spirit of cooperation is true humanity.
Red Cross Secretary Karan Kumar Laddu said that today is a day of special importance, because on this day the Red Cross was established in the world. Appealing to the people to donate blood at least twice every year, he said that blood donation is a great donation and it does not have any adverse effect on the human body.

Expressing vote of thanks at the end of the program, NSS Program Officer Prof. Vidyanand Yadav said that the main objective of Red Cross is human service. He appealed to the school children and NSS volunteers to take active participation in human service work. On the occasion, Prof. A large number of students and volunteers including Vinod Kumar Vimal, Krishna Murari Agarwal, Jaspreet Kaur, Hirendra Kumar, Sant Saroj, Jitendra Kumar alias Rajesh Chaudhary, Deepak Kumar, Satish Kumar Alok were present.
