Liverpool skipper Virgil van Dijk could be facing an imminent approach from Turkish giants Galatasaray in the summer transfer window. Turkish publication FotoMac claim the Dutch international is 'ready to leave' Anfield, and may yet join Mohamed Salah in departing the club on a free transfer when the season draws to a close. The report suggests Van Dijk is weighing up his future at Liverpool following the club's underwhelming campaign.

The 34-year-old has just one year remaining on his current contract at Anfield, having agreed an extension last season, yet is reportedly mindful of the club's intentions to bring in younger talent. The Reds brought in Giovanni Leoni last summer and have struck an agreement with Rennes to acquire youngster Jeremy Jacquet, while also holding talks to extend Ibrahima Konate's deal, which runs out this summer.

The report further states that Van Dijk has been impressed by Galatasaray on both occasions he has faced the Turkish club in the Champions League this term.

Andy Robertson and Salah are among the high-profile names poised to depart Anfield on free transfers this summer, and the report indicates Van Dijk could follow them through the exit door.

It is suggested that he could even terminate his contract early to facilitate a move to Turkey, mirroring Salah's approach as he seeks pastures new.

Nevertheless, Van Dijk's recent remarks regarding Liverpool's reconstruction suggest he remains fully committed to the club for the duration of his contract, acknowledging that the Reds face a considerable amount of work during the summer transfer window.

"It has been ups and downs," Van Dijk said reflecting on this season. "Some wins have felt good. Winning feels good. But we can't build on that and it has been the story of our season. That is what is difficult.

"Just to go up and down in your emotions is never a good thing. When you win, it's happy days. When you lose, it is bad and you are held accountable. You have to take responsibility. It's just life.

"I think it's unacceptable that we have lost too many times as defending champions of the Premier League and we shouldn't accept it whatsoever. There will be a lot of work that has to be done going into next season.

"When I am back from the World Cup, I will go into it. But there is a lot of work to do be done behind the scenes."
