The Board of Control for Cricket in India has issued a firm warning to IPL franchises and players. A few violations to anti-corruption and conduct regulations were noted among teams and players during the IPL 2026 matches.
Devajit Saikia, secretary of BCCI said "anomalies and irregularities" has been found by the board among certain franchises and players and if these continued in the tournament strict action may be taken.
On Thursday, Saikia stated that unauthorized individuals have been found loitering with the team members and some have even been found to enter the player and support staff rooms at the hotels. He insisted that this goes against the IPL anti-corruption regulations.
Saikia said:
"This time we have observed various anomalies and irregularities in the conduct of certain franchises and players. So BCCI and IPL are preparing an advisory, and we are going to release that advisory this evening because we have noticed that there are a lot of unauthorised persons who are moving along with the team members. And some people who are unauthorised are coming to the hotels and to the players' rooms or the team officials' room, which is totally against our anti-corruption protocols."

BCCI will take action against violations in the future
Saikia highlighted that team owners and officers were present around the players during match days where it is not permissible to be in contact with them.

He added:
"We have also seen that certain team owners and officials are mingling with players in areas where it is not allowed. So there are certain protocols we have to follow, and we have seen there are some dilutions. We have taken this very seriously. We are issuing an advisory, and it will be very strictly followed. If there is any violation herein after, then BCCI and IPL will take very stringent action."
This issue has put the spotlight again on discussions about the arrival of partners and influencers at IPL matches. A few days back there were also reports claiming BCCIwas miffed with the alleged "girlfriend culture" among few franchises.
The season has also seen multiple controversies off the field. Riyan Parag was earlier fined for vaping in the dressing room during the match. Rajasthan Royals team manager Romi Bhinder was also fined for using a mobile phone inside the dugout.
With the playoff teams almost finalized and the race for the championship heating up BCCI has requested the franchises and players to rigorously follow all the regulations and ensure strict discipline both on and off the field.
