More than half of the journey of IPL 2026 season has been completed but in the meantime a strict order of the Board of Control for Cricket in India has shaken it. BCCI has issued strict guidelines for all the teams participating in the league, which will be applicable to the players as well as team officials and franchise owners. Expressing fear of honey-trap of players and officials, BCCI has instructed them to be cautious about contact with unknown people. The board has made it clear that no unknown person will be allowed to enter the team hotel or dressing room without permission.
Warning about dangers like honey-trap and leaks
IPL 2026 BCCI came into action suddenly after incidents related to partners, relatives and friends of some players came to light. According to PTI report, in a report of BCCI's Anti Corruption Unit, the possibility of honey-trap was raised due to contact with unknown people, taking advantage of which there is a danger of leaking of important information related to the team or match. Only after this, BCCI has sent a detailed guideline of 8 pages to all the 10 teams and asked them to implement them strictly.
News agency PTI reports that BCCI has told the team owners and their officials in this document that violations of security and other protocols have been found in many cases during this season. These violations have been seen from players, officials and even owners. The board made it clear that this guideline has been issued to strengthen the discipline, security and vigilance of the league during the tournament.
Strict instructions to players, support staff and owners
In the guidelines sent to the teams by BCCI Secretary Devjit Saikia, players, support staff and team owners have been instructed to be alert and aware about some important things. According to this,
- No person, regardless of relationship with a team member, may enter the hotel room of a player or support staff without the prior knowledge and written permission of the team manager.
- Guests coming to meet the players and support staff will be allowed to meet only in the hotel lobby or reception lounge. No guest will be taken to a private room in the hotel without written permission from the team manager.
- All franchises are also cautioned against the dangers of 'targeted compromise' and 'honey trapping' which are often seen during such high-profile tournaments. The possibility of incidents of serious legal charges under Indian laws related to sexual harassment cannot be ruled out. Therefore, franchisees should remain vigilant at all times and take proactive steps to minimize such risks.
- Players, support staff and team owners and officials will have to wear their accreditation cards at all times in hotels and stadiums, so that there is no chaos of any kind.
- Also, team owners and officials will not be allowed to meet, talk to or give any instructions to the players and support staff during the match under any circumstances, be it the dugout or the team dressing room.
Task force will search the hotel
Apart from this, the board has made it clear that a special task force has been formed by combining the operation team of BCCI and IPL. This task force can search the hotel at any time and if during this time any person is found who is present there without permission, then strict action will be taken against the guilty players, support staff or team owners.
