New Delhi: Tension between American and Iranian forces in the Strait of Hormuz has once again come to the fore. US President Donald Trump has claimed that three American warships passing through Hormuz were attacked, although the US Navy did not suffer any damage.

After this incident, Trump gave a very strong statement against Iran and said that Iran’s leadership is in the hands of “lunatics”. He warned that if Tehran did not sign a peace deal soon, it would face even more “violent” responses in the future.

Attack on American ships in Hormuz

US President Donald Trump confirmed on Thursday that three American warships were targeted while passing through the Strait of Hormuz. According to Trump, the attacks carried out by the Iranian army were completely foiled by American forces.

He said that in this action the “Iranian attackers” suffered heavy losses and many of their small boats were completely destroyed.

Trump’s sharp attack on Iran

In a long post on his Truth social account, Trump targeted the leadership of Iran and said that if he gets a chance to use nuclear weapons, he will not shy away from doing so.

Trump said, "Missiles were fired at our destroyers, and they were easily destroyed. Similarly, the drones came, and were burnt to ashes in the air. They fell into the sea as beautifully as a butterfly falls into its grave!"

he adds, "A normal country would have allowed these destroyers to pass, but Iran is not a normal country. They are led by madmen, and if they had the opportunity to use nuclear weapons, they would do so without question – but they will never get that opportunity and, just as we have defeated them again today, we will defeat them even worse and more violently in the future if they do not sign their agreement as soon as possible!"

Clash near Qeshm Island

According to Iranian state media, the collision occurred near Qeshm Island located in the Strait of Hormuz. About 15 lakh people live on this island and a water desalination plant is also present here.

Iran has long wanted complete control over the Strait of Hormuz. This sea route is considered very important in terms of global energy supply, because about one-fifth of the world’s crude oil passes through this route.

America and Iran face to face over Hormuz

While Iran wants to increase its influence on this strategic waterway, America wants the Strait of Hormuz to remain open and the movement of international ships to continue without any hindrance.

There has been tension between the two countries for a long time regarding Tehran’s nuclear program. America has consistently said that Iran cannot be allowed to possess nuclear weapons, while Iran says that its nuclear program is only for civilian use.

Iran’s statement on Pakistan’s mediation

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Ismail Bagai said that the messages sent by Pakistan for peace talks are being reviewed.

According to Iranian state TV, Bagai said that Iran "+No conclusion has been reached yet, and no response has been given to the American side."
