Riteish Deshmukh's 'Raja Shivaji' continues to create history at the Marathi box office. The film has made the biggest opening week record of Marathi cinema by earning more than Rs 57 crore in the first week of its release. Now the film is just a few crores away from becoming the third highest grossing Marathi film, leaving behind 'Vade'.

Riteish Deshmukh starrer historical film 'Raja Shivaji' is showing no signs of stopping at the box office. After a spectacular opening weekend, the film maintained a strong hold on the weekdays as well and made the biggest record of Marathi cinema in the first week itself. According to the initial trends, the film has made strong earnings even on the seventh day and now its total net collection has reached more than Rs 57 crore. The special thing is that 'Raja Shivaji' has become the first Marathi film to reach Rs 50 crore club in the first week. Now the film is eyeing to break the big record of Riteish Deshmukh starrer 'Wade'.

Strong hold of 'Raja Shivaji' continued even on the 7th day

'Raja Shivaji' performed brilliantly at the box office on its first Thursday i.e. seventh day. In the Marathi version, the morning occupancy of the film was around 11%, while in the afternoon shows it increased to 25%. Occupancy in the evening shows touched 31%. According to reports, the film also got good response in night shows. Due to this strong hold, the film made a net collection of around Rs 4.35 to 4.45 crore on the seventh day. Interestingly, compared to the sixth day, the film's earnings saw a decline of only 5 to 7 percent, which shows its strong box office run.

Marathi cinema's biggest record made in the first week

According to initial figures, 'Raja Shivaji' has made a net collection of Rs 57.65 to 57.75 crore in the first week. The gross collection of the film has crossed Rs 68 crore. With this, the film was successful in creating the biggest opening week record in the history of Marathi cinema. Not only this, it has also become the first Marathi film to earn more than Rs 50 crore in the first week of its release. The film is being discussed continuously in trade circles and it is being considered as a game changer for the Marathi industry.

Now 'Wade's' record is almost certain to be broken!

At present, 'Raja Shivaji' has become the fourth highest grossing Marathi film at the Indian box office. Now to reach the third position, it just has to break the record of 'Wade', which had earned Rs 61.2 crore. According to current figures, the film is just Rs 3.5 crore away from this record. Trade experts believe that on the eighth day i.e. second Friday, 'Raja Shivaji' can easily leave 'Wade' behind. If the film continues at this pace, then in the coming days it can be included among the biggest films of Marathi cinema. 'Sairat' is currently the highest grossing Marathi film with a collection of Rs 90 crore, while at the second position is 'Baipan Bhari Deva', which had collected Rs 76.28 crore.
