Thousands of Fortnite players were apparently unable to access the game on May 7 after a major outage disrupted login and matchmaking services across multiple regions. According to outage tracking website Down Detector, reports of issues with Fortnite surged during the evening, with complaints briefly spiking to nearly 15,000 before dropping to around 2,500 by 8:37 PM EDT. The outage map showed that users in the UK and Europe were affected, although the majority of complaints appeared to come from the United States.

Developer Epic Games acknowledged the issue in a post on its X handle, saying, "We're aware that players may not be able to log into or matchmake in Fortnite," reads an Epic Games tweet.

"We'll provide an update when we have one."

In a later tweet it says, “Update: We're actively working with our partners to resolve the outage and will share another update as soon as we have more to share.

Thanks for hanging in there with us; we'll have you back in the game as quickly as possible!”

The company’s public status page also confirmed ongoing problems impacting both Fortnite and Fall Guys.

The status update said, "Login and Matchmaking Errors
Investigating - Players may not be able to log into or matchmake in Fortnite or Fall Guys. We're working to fix this now and we'll provide an update when we have more info."

Epic Games has not yet provided an exact timeline for when services will be fully restored.
