Coal India Limited, a Maharatna company of the Government of India, has announced recruitment for Management Trainee posts (Coal India Recruitment 2026). The total number of vacancies is 660. The vacancy is divided into different categories and regions. There are 178 vacancies in Civil, 221 in Electrical, 145 in Mechanical, 46 in System, 38 in Electronics and Communication, 15 in Geology, 11 in Industrial Engineering, 5 for Official Language Hindi and four for Company Secretary. 278 posts have been reserved for General, 61 for EWS, 94 for SC, 45 for ST, 169 for OBC NCL, 13 for Backlog and 64 for PwBD candidates.

To apply, General/OBC-NCL/EWS candidates will have to pay a fee of Rs 1180. SC/ST/PWD/Coal India employees have been exempted from paying fees. Keep in mind that payment of application fees will be allowed only in online mode.
Educational qualification
Educational qualification is also different for different posts. To apply for Civil/Electrical/Mechanical/Industrial Engineering Trade Management, candidates must have a degree in relevant branch of engineering with 60% marks. For System Management Trainee, candidates should have first class BE/B.Tech/B.Sc Engineering degree in Computer Science/Computer Engineering/IT or first class degree with MCA.
To apply for Geology MT, candidates should have M.Sc or M.Tech degree in Geology/Applied Geology/Geophysics/Applied Geophysics with 60% marks. Official Language Hindi To apply for MT post, it is mandatory for the candidates to have Masters in Hindi with 60% and Graduation with Hindi and English as one of the subjects. It is necessary to have 50% marks in graduation. Candidates who are graduates from recognized universities or institutes and have the qualification of Company Secretary as Associate or Fellow Membership with ICSI can apply for the post of Company Secretary MT.
age limit
The prescribed age should be maximum 30 years till 30th April 2026. OBC NCL will be given relaxation of 3 years, SC/ST will be given 5 years and PWD category candidates will be given relaxation of up to 10 years.
selection process
Candidates will be selected on the basis of computer based test, document verification and medical examination. CBT will consist of two papers, each of 100 marks. Duration of the exam will be 3 hours. In Paper-1, questions to General Knowledge, Reasoning, Numerical Ability and General English will be asked. Whereas in Paper-2, 100 questions to professional knowledge will be asked. Each question will be of one mark. There will be no negative marking on wrong answers.
