High alert in Punjab: Threat to kill CM Bhagwant Mann and Ravneet Bittu, panic in schools of Jalandhar-Faridkot

Jalandhar/Faridkot. A major alert has been issued regarding security arrangements in Punjab. Many schools in Jalandhar and Faridkot have received bomb threats during Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s ‘Shukrana Yatra’. The threatening e-mail also mentioned targeting Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and Union Minister Ravneet Bittu with a car bomb, after which there was panic in the entire administration.

Threat to schools in Jalandhar, children sent home-
After the recent Activa blast near BSF Chowk in Jalandhar, threats received by private schools have further increased the concern of security agencies. After receiving a bomb threat through e-mail to Apeejay School located at BMC Chowk, the school management immediately dismissed the students and sent them home safely.

As soon as the news of the threat spread, an atmosphere of chaos was created in the school premises. Police and administrative teams immediately reached the spot and cordoned off the entire area and started investigation. At present there has been no confirmation of any suspicious object being found.

ADCP Akarshi Jain said that 5 to 6 schools in the city have received similar threatening e-mails. Police, security agencies and cyber crime team are investigating the case from every angle.

An atmosphere of fear among children and parents-
After being dismissed from school, the students told that they were shown a message saying that there was a threat to blow up the school, after which they were immediately dismissed. After the incident, an atmosphere of fear and anxiety was seen among the parents also.

Threat to three educational institutions in Faridkot also-
The administration became fully alert after receiving a threat to bomb three educational institutions before the visit of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann in Faridkot.

Threats were sent to Sadiq Government Girls School, Faridkot’s Dashmesh Public School and Dashmesh Dental College through e-mails. As soon as the information was received, police and security agencies evacuated all the institutions and started the search operation.

As a precautionary measure, holiday was declared in many schools of Faridkot and Kotkapura. DSP Tarlochan Singh said that at present no suspicious object has been recovered from any institute, but the safety of students and staff is being given top priority.

After these continuous threats being received in Punjab, security agencies are on alert mode and the cyber team is busy investigating the threatening e-mails.
