New Delhi: Renowned actress of Bollywood, Deepika Padukone, is known for her exceptional acting skills and box office dominance. Over the years, the actress has turned down several films that later became huge successes.

While she had her reasons – date issues, script choices or creative differences- these movies went on to make a mark in the industry with different actors stepping into the roles. Let’s take a look at the movies rejected by Deepika Padukone.

1. Jab Tak Hai Jaan

Deepika Padukone was reportedly offered the role of Meera, but she turned it down due to scheduling conflicts. The film, starring Shah Rukh Khan, Anushka Sharma and Katrina Kaif, became a hit and marked Yash Chopra’s final directorial venture. The role of Meera was later essayed by Katrina Kaif.

2. Dhoom 3

The Dhoom franchise is one of the hit movies. After slaying in Dhoom 2, she was offered the Aamir Khan starrer Dhoom 3. However, she rejected it to focus on Goliyon Ki Raasleela: Ram-Leela, opposite Ranveer Singh, which turned out to be career-defining for the actress.

Deepika was also offered the role of Aarfa, a wrestler and the love interest of Salman Khan’s character in Sultan. Deepika was reportedly turned it down as she was focusing on her Hollywood debut, xXx: Return of Xander Cage (2017). It was later essayed by Anushka Sharma, for which she also received praise.

4. Roy

The Ranbir Kapoor starrer Roy was initially offered to Deepika, who reportedly declined the film. The role was later played by Jacqueline Fernandez. The film also starred Arjun Rampal. While it didn’t become a blockbuster, Jacqueline’s role and the music of the film received appreciation.

5. Gangubai Kathiawadi

Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Gangubai Kathiawadi became a huge blockbuster in 2022. According to India Today, Deepika Padukone was offered a role in the film, but she rejected it as she didn’t want to share screen space with Alia Bhatt.

6. Fast & Furious 7

Hollywood came knocking with an offer for Deepika Padukone to be a part of the Fast & Furious 7 , but she rejected it due to prior commitments in Bollywood. The role was eventually played by Nathalie Emmanuel, who became a recurring character in the franchise.

7. Prem Ratan Dhan Payo

Another movie starring Salman Khan, Prem Ratan Dhan Payo, was initially offered to Deepika Padukone, which she turned down. Later, the makers roped in Sonam Kapoor opposite Salman Khan.
