Aamir Khan had high hopes with Junaid Khan and Sai Pallavi’s Ek Din. Since its release, the film has been criticised for multiple reasons. From the very beginning, fans wondered whether the film would work.
The actress herself has now admitted that somewhere down the line, the movie started off on the wrong note and she wasn’t the right fit for it as the leading actress.
Sai Pallavi Thinks She was Miscast in Ek Din

Speaking on the Aamir Khan Talkies YouTube channel, Sai Pallavi revealed that she felt like a misfit amongst everyone else in Ek Din. In her mind, a fresh face or a debut actress would have done a better job as the leading lady of the film rather than her.
"I don't think I was meant to do this and I think I am miscast. I feel so; I think it should have been a new person who had a little bit of flamboyance."
However, Junaid Khan didn’t think so. He saw her as the perfect actress for the role, and there was no one else who could have done it better than her.
She added, "It is not about the scale of a film that drives me. At that point of time in my life, I had done a lot of films which were heavy, and I wanted to do something that was light... that did not have me carry a lot of trauma through the making and even after. So when the script came along, I thought this is going to be in the zone of Before Sunrise. Because I like Before Sunrise, and I thought this is going to be like that."
She also saw similarities between the film and Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy’s film, Before Sunrise. It was because of the likeness that she said yes to the film in the first place. She didn’t mind as to how big or small the film was aiming to be.
Sai Pallavi will next appear in Ramayana as Sita alongside Ranbir Kapoor as Rama.
