After Sunjay Dut, actor-dancer Nora Fatehi also appeared before the National Commission for Women in Delhi over the vulgar song controversy and apologised.
On Thursday, the 34-year-old appeared after being summoned in a scandal around the song Sarke Chunar from the film KD The Devil.
The Hindi version of the song had sparked outrage online after viewers criticised its allegedly explicit lyrics and portrayal of women. The track featured Nora alongside Sanjay Dutt.
The Hindi version was later removed from YouTube, though clips continued circulating on social media.
Speaking to reporters after the hearing, the Dilbar performer said she had submitted a written apology to the Commission.
“I did (appear before the Commission) and I apologised. It was just a situation that I was put in, and there was no intention to offend anybody, but of course, I have to be responsible as an artist. I definitely apologised, we have done everything in writing,” she said.
The actor also announced she would sponsor the education of orphaned girls following the controversy.
“They have been so kind and helpful. It’s really important for us to give back to society. So, I decided that we should sponsor a few orphan girls, their education,” she added.
Last month, Sanjay Dutt had also appeared before the Commission and apologised over the song. He later pledged support for the education of 50 tribal girls.
The controversy has also drawn reactions from figures including Kangana Ranaut, Ravi Kishan and Armaan Malik.
