Former Punjab cricketer and Virat Kohli's Under-19 teammate Amanpreet Singh Gill died on Wednesday at the age of 36. His sudden death has saddened the entire cricket world. The cause of death has not been clear yet. Amanpreet played 6 first-class matches for Punjab, in which he took 11 wickets. He was also a part of the Kings XI Punjab team in the first season of IPL. Later he also served in the Senior Selection Committee of Punjab.
Virat Kohli expressed his deep shock and grief on the death of his old teammate on X (first Twitter). He wrote, 'I am shocked and saddened to hear the news of Amanpreet Gill's demise. May God give courage to his family and loved ones. may his soul rest in peace. Om Shanti.'

Yuvraj Singh and Punjab Kings expressed grief
Veteran Indian player Yuvraj Singh and Punjab Kings team have also paid tribute to Amanpreet. Remembering him, Yuvraj wrote, "We shared the dressing room in the early days. He loved the game very much, was a calm and hard-working cricketer."

Amanpreet played 5 Youth ODIs and one Youth Test match for India in 2007. In his only Test match, he took the wicket of Sri Lankan player Thisara Perera. Although, he was not selected in the Under-19 team that won the World Cup in 2008 under the captaincy of Virat Kohli, he was considered one of the important players of that batch.
