What is Malmas or Adhik Maas?

Malamas, also known as Adhik Maas or Purushottam Maas, is associated with a particular calculation of the Hindu calendar. It usually comes once every three years. Actually, the solar year is of 365 days whereas the lunar year is considered to be of approximately 354 days. There is a difference of about 11 days between the two. To balance this difference, an additional month is added every three years, which is called Adhik Maas or Malmaas. From religious point of view, this month is considered dedicated to Lord Vishnu, hence it is also called Purushottam month.

When will Malamas be in the year 2026?

According to the calendar, in the year 2026, Adhik Maas will be from 17th May to 15th June.
