Kolkata, 6 May. For the first time in the political history of West Bengal, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government will be sworn in on May 9. BJP’s West Bengal unit chief Samik Bhattacharya gave this information on Wednesday.
Samik Bhattacharya said that the swearing-in ceremony will be held at the Brigade Parade Ground in central Kolkata at 10 am. However, it is not yet decided who will be the next Chief Minister of Bengal. The leader will be selected in the BJP Legislature Party meeting, who will be administered the oath of office as Chief Minister. There is speculation that only the most popular BJP leader in the state, Subhendu Adhikari, who defeated Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee by more than 15 thousand votes in Bhawanipur seat, can take oath as CM.
After the oath, the party will issue a white paper, which will mention the loot of TMC leaders.
It is noteworthy that BJP ended the 15-year rule of Trinamool Congress by securing a landslide victory in the West Bengal Assembly elections. Bhattacharya said, ‘After the party’s victory and the swearing-in of the Chief Minister, we will release a white paper in which we will show how much TMC has looted the people.’
Shubhendu said – ‘I will vacate one of the two assembly seats won in 10 days’
Meanwhile, Subhendu Adhikari said that he will vacate one of the two assembly seats within 10 days. The central leadership of the party will decide which assembly seat he will keep. He said, ‘I will vacate a seat within 10 days. The party will decide which seat I will keep. I will not forget my responsibility towards the people of Bhawanipur and Nandigram. Apart from Bhawanipur seat, Shubhendu has won from Nandigram for the third consecutive time.
Amit Shah has been appointed central observer
It is noteworthy that to take forward the process of government formation, BJP has appointed Union Home Minister Amit Shah as the central observer and Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi as the co-observer. Both the leaders will hold a meeting with the newly elected MLAs and take the final decision on the names of the Chief Minister and the cabinet.
Chief Ministers of 20 states will attend the oath ceremony
Meanwhile, Chief Secretary Dushyant Nariyala, Sunil Bansal (BJP’s State Central Observer Incharge), MP Soumitra Khan and State BJP General Secretary Shashi Agnihotri were present in the meeting regarding preparations for the swearing-in ceremony of the new cabinet. It is said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and other Union Ministers will be present in this swearing-in ceremony. Apart from this, Chief Ministers of 20 BJP ruled states are also expected to attend.
