digital desk- Thursday is going to be a very important day in the politics of Bihar. The countdown for the cabinet expansion of the government led by Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary has started. After a high-level meeting held at the residence of former Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, the names of 12 MLAs who will become ministers from Janata Dal United (JDU) quota have almost been finalized. The most surprising name in this list and the topic of discussion is that of Nitish Kumar’s son Nishant Kumar, whose first and biggest step in active politics is being considered.

Nishant Kumar’s ‘entry’ and dominance of old faces

According to party sources, JDU working president Sanjay Kumar Jha and Union Minister Lalan Singh have submitted the list of probable ministers to Nitish Kumar on Wednesday. The inclusion of Nishant Kumar’s name in this list is indicating a major change in the political circles. It is believed that Nishant Kumar will not only become a minister, but he can also be assigned some important ministry in the cabinet. At the same time, the Samrat cabinet has also expressed confidence in the old faces who were ministers in the Nitish government. Experienced leaders like Shravan Kumar, Ashok Chaudhary, Lacey Singh, Madan Sahni, Sunil Kumar and Jama Khan are being repeated in the cabinet. The party believes that it is necessary for harmony to retain the successful faces of the government formed after the 2025 assembly elections.

Balance of new faces and seasoned veterans

This time JDU has created an excellent balance of new and old faces to solve the social equations. Talking about new faces, Sheela Mandal, Damodar Rawat and Bulo Mandal can take oath as ministers for the first time. Apart from these, Ratnesh Sada and Bhagwan Singh Kushwaha are also part of this list, who have already held the post of minister.

Mathematics of alliance: Equal share in BJP and JDU

Talking about the form of Samrat Cabinet, BJP and JDU have been given equal status in the equation of power. Both parties will have 16 posts each in the cabinet. Other allies have also been given due representation:

  • LJP (Ram Vilas): Chirag Paswan’s party has got 2 ministerial posts.
  • HAM and RALMO: Jitan Ram Manjhi’s ‘Hum’ and Upendra Kushwaha’s party have been allotted 1 post each.

There is talk of 10 to 12 leaders from JDU quota taking oath in the swearing-in ceremony to be held on Thursday, while some posts may be kept vacant for future expansion. Two JDU leaders have already become part of the government by taking oath as Deputy Chief Ministers. After Nitish Kumar’s final approval, now only the formal announcement is awaited at Raj Bhavan.
