The BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) secured 102 out of 126 seats in the assembly elections, which were conducted in a single phase on April 9, with the vote counting occurring on May 4.

Later, addressing the media outside Lok Bhawan, Sarma indicated that the oath-taking ceremony for the new government is expected to occur after May 11.

"Given the historic nature of this victory, we have extended an invitation to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to attend the event," he added.

The selection of the new Chief Minister for Assam will take place during a meeting of the BJP legislature party, which will include central observers, Sarma mentioned.
