Sun Exposure for Vitamin D: Indians are found to be deficient in many vitamins. The reason for this is our food habits and lifestyle. We are talking about Vitamin D. Vitamin D deficiency is mostly found in pregnant women, elderly people and children. Deficiency of Vitamin D can cause joint pain, weakening of bones, fatigue and falling sick frequently.
Which way to get enough Vitamin D?
Vitamin D is also called the sunshine vitamin, because it is easily obtained by sitting in the morning sunlight for 10-30 minutes. Sunlight should fall directly on our skin. Also, sunlight can fulfill the deficiency of this vitamin in our body only when there is cholesterol in our body. Cholesterol is obtained from non-veg foods and dairy products like milk, curd, cheese, etc. Apart from this, its deficiency can also be compensated by eggs, fatty fish, mushrooms and ghee. According to experts, there is no substitute for cholesterol in vegan food.
Sunlight compensates for 80-90 percent of Vitamin D deficiency in our body. Apart from this, the deficiency of 10-20 percent can be compensated by taking care of food. People with dark or dusky skin need to stay in the sun for a little longer (35-40 minutes).
Supplements will also be beneficial
Although Vitamin D deficiency can also be compensated through some supplements, but they should be taken only after medical consultation. Increasing Vitamin D naturally is the right and sustainable way for our body system.
Supplements may increase the risk of several side effects, such as hypercalcemia. In this, the absorption of calcium increases and can also cause irritability, confusion, heart problems. Apart from this, problems like digestive problems, kidney damage, weakness, skin problems and weight loss can also occur.
