WhatsApp, one of the popular instant messaging platforms used around the world, is revamping chat with a major redesign for iOS users. They are testing a “liquid glass” look, which will make the app look fresh and modern. Right now, some parts of WhatsApp have a new style, but when you actually open a chat, it still looks pretty dated. This is about to change.

So, what is this Liquid Glass UI all about?

It’s a new design approach built around smooth, translucent layers and depth effects. You’ll notice cleaner visuals, lighter reflections, and sleeker animations. Frankly, it makes the interface come alive—the UI elements seem to float and blend in with whatever’s in the background. A lot of iOS apps are already moving in this direction, and now WhatsApp is ready to fit in too.

On the chat screen, the biggest feature is the chat bar. It’ll remain at the bottom, but it’s now a floating, glass-like bar that shows your chat wallpaper. The navigation bar is also getting the same transparent treatment, so you can get a glimpse of the messages below. Perhaps there will be a soft fade effect, so everything is easier to read. They’re also updating little things, like the “Jump to latest message” button, to make it easier to navigate through chats.

Don’t expect to see these changes immediately
The Liquid Glass update is still in testing, and most users haven’t received the new chat screen yet. It looks like WhatsApp is fine-tuning the details before everyone gets it. If you’re on the beta, you’ll probably be the first one to try it.

Additionally, the company is working on a redesign for other parts of the app, like the voice note player, to make the whole thing feel more unified and up to date.
