The woman, identified as Sushmitha Gowrav, shared a video on Instagram recounting the traumatic incident and warned others to prioritise safety before participating in adventure water sports.
Fun turns frightening
What was meant to be a thrilling holiday activity quickly turned into panic.
In the caption of her post, Gowrav wrote: “1 minute of thrill… almost cost me everything.”
Describing the terrifying sequence of events, she said, “What started as a fun parasailing experience in Goa ended with me struggling in the middle of the sea.”

The incident left her shaken, though she was eventually rescued.
Recalling the moment, she wrote, “No camera can capture that feeling when you realise you are no longer in control.”
Gowrav said she considers herself fortunate to have survived.
“I was lucky, someone came and saved me, but not everyone gets that second chance,” she added.
Along with sharing her experience, Gowrav urged travellers to ask detailed questions before signing up for water sports activities.
She cautioned, “Before you try any water sport, ask questions, check safety measures, and trust your instincts, because some experiences do not just remain memories, they turn into trauma.”
Her post has reignited concerns over safety protocols followed by some adventure sports operators.
Netizens react
The video has gone viral online, with many users stressing the need for stricter safety standards.
One user wrote: “This is so scary. Safety should never be taken lightly, especially in water sports.”
Another commented, “Glad you are safe. People really need to check the safety standards before booking these activities.”
A third added, “This could have ended very badly. Operators must be held responsible for proper safety checks.”
