The election results of West Bengal have surprised the entire country. In the results declared on May 4, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has got an absolute majority for the first time since independence. With this, Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress (TMC), which was in power for the last 15 years, has bid farewell. Although these results may be shocking for the experts, but BJP already seemed confident about this victory.

Modi government in action as soon as government is formed, big decision in first cabinet

As soon as it assumes power, BJP is preparing to implement the promises which it had made to the people of Bengal. It is clear from this that BJP will work rapidly on the mission of economically empowering the people of Bengal through its manifesto.

7 big promises that will change the economy of Bengal

BJP’s vision document, which was released by Home Minister Amit Shah on April 10, is being considered as the roadmap for the development of the state. Although there are 15 big promises in it, but there are 7 such promises which will have a direct impact on the public purse and the economic health of the state. The rural employment and industrial schemes of the Central Government will now gain momentum in Bengal, which is expected to increase local demand and income. For this reason, many big industrialists are also welcoming this change.

Challenges are no less: Mathematics of debt and financial deficit

Taking power in Bengal can also be a crown of thorns for BJP. The state’s fiscal deficit is 3% to 3.6% of its gross domestic product (GSDP), meaning the scope for spending is limited. Besides, the debt burden on the state is also very high. Experts believe that the market likes political stability, but to fulfill the tempting promises of BJP, strict financial discipline and precise policies will be required.

Treasure opened for women: ₹3000 per month and free bus service

BJP has played a big gamble to empower women. Under the ‘Lakhpati Didi’ scheme, a promise has been made to connect 75 lakh women and to provide direct financial assistance of Rs 3,000 per month to each woman. Not only this, promises like 33% reservation in government jobs, free travel in government buses, and one-time assistance of Rs 50,000 to daughters taking admission in graduation are included. Poor pregnant women will also be given Rs 21,000 and free nutrition kits.

Mahakumbh of employment: 1 crore jobs and ₹10 lakh credit card

To prevent the youth of Bengal from migrating, BJP has set a target of 1 crore jobs in 5 years. Till the youth do not get jobs, they will be given unemployment allowance of Rs 3,000 per month. Apart from this, assistance up to Rs 10 lakh will be provided through ‘Banglar Udyam Credit Card’ for those starting their own business. It has also been said that the students affected by the paper leak will be given relaxation of 5 years in the age limit.

New zones for agriculture and industries

To increase the income of farmers, the minimum support price (MSP) of paddy has been increased to Rs 3,100 and annual assistance of Rs 9,000 has been promised to every farmer. For industrial development, 4 big industrial zones will be created in the state and an industrial park will be developed in Singur. Also, there is a plan to provide relief to lakhs of workers by restarting the closed jute mills. Darjeeling tea will also be linked to tourism to give it international recognition.
