Hardik Pandya, Rishabh Pant, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Ajinkya Rahane and Ryan Parag. These are the captains who failed to inspire the team with their performance in IPL 2026 and this has been discussed a lot. Then all of them have made some important contribution to the team at least in one match or the other. But apart from all this, the poor performance of Delhi Capitals captain Akshar Patel is not showing any signs of stopping. Akshar, who is surrounded by questions due to many of his decisions as captain, has also been a flop with the bat.

In the match against Chennai Super Kings Delhi Capitals NE captain Akshar was out after scoring only 2 runs in 6 balls. Throughout this season, Akshar has consistently batted at number four or five and has got opportunities to play a lot of balls but he has not been able to take advantage of it. The same thing happened against Chennai, where the team lost 3 wickets for just 52 runs in 8 overs, after which Akshar came to the crease. He had a chance to play a big innings but he could not do so.

He could cross double figures in only one innings but in that he retired due to injury after scoring 26 runs. Overall, this season Akshar Patel has batted 7 times in 10 matches and has been able to score only 33 runs. In this also he could not open the account twice. His average this season is 5.5, while the strike rate is also only 89. This is surprising because Akshar's overall T20 batting average is 22 and strike rate is 135.50.

Failed in bowling and captaincy also

Not only with batting, but also with their bowling and captaincy, Delhi Capitals have failed to get their team out of trouble. Akshar has been able to take only 8 wickets in 9 innings this season. Not only this, he has also failed to make the team win through his decisions. His decision came under question against Chennai itself, where he won the toss and decided to bat first and his batsmen continued to struggle. The team had lost 5 wickets for only 69 runs.
