Government Approves Emergency Credit Line Scheme for MSMEs and Airlines Amid West Asia Crisis

On Tuesday, the central government sanctioned an emergency credit line guarantee scheme worth ₹18,100 crores aimed at assisting micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), airlines, and other businesses in addressing challenges arising from the conflict in West Asia. According to reports, the primary goal of this initiative is to meet the working capital requirements of the affected sectors. The scheme, which received approval during a cabinet meeting, is expected to facilitate an additional loan flow of up to ₹2.55 lakh crores.


Government's Initiative to Alleviate Pressure

Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw shared details about the cabinet decisions, stating that this scheme is designed to alleviate the pressure on the MSME and airline sectors caused by the West Asia conflict. An official statement from the government indicated that the proposed credit guarantee scheme would assist businesses in continuing operations, securing jobs, maintaining supply chains, and ensuring uninterrupted domestic production. Timely liquidity provision is expected to prevent job losses and sustain the overall economic framework.


Support for Overcoming Challenges from West Asia Crisis

The official statement from the government emphasized that the scheme aims to help businesses navigate the challenges posed by the West Asia crisis. It is designed to support businesses in maintaining operations, securing employment, and sustaining supply chains. Notably, the MSME and airline sectors have been facing severe financial pressure due to the conflict that began in February.
