The match between Delhi Capitals and Chennai Super Kings at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on May 5 saw an absolute brain fade moment when both Jamie Overton and Ruturaj Gaikwad stood clueless as the ball dropped in the middle. It happened in the 19th over, fourth ball, when Overton gave a full ball. Sameer Rizvi, the impact batter for DC, tried to go for a flick but mistimed it.
He only managed to get an edge as the ball went high. Overton left his spot and tried to go after the ball. Meanwhile, CSK captain Rutu came from the other side, and it got mixed up. It seemed like Overton lost track of the ball and unfortunately left it to his captain, who himself stood clueless.

However, in the next ball, Overton got a wicket, but of Tristan Stubbs. Stubbs tried to pull hard but went flat and was caught by Mukesh Kumar in the long leg. Notably, Rizvi was dropped on 32 runs, and he later stood not out, taking a struggling DC to 155.

Chennai Super Kings continued their clinical run in IPL 2026 with a dominant 8-wicket win over Delhi Capitals at Arun Jaitley Stadium. Chasing 156, CSK finished at 159/2 in just 17.3 overs, maintaining a strong run rate of 9.08.
The standout performer was Sanju Samson, who smashed an unbeaten 87 off 52 balls, striking at 167.30 with 7 fours and 6 sixes. He also registered the fastest fifty of the match for CSK, reaching the milestone in just 32 balls. His 114-run unbroken stand with Kartik Sharma (41* off 31) sealed the chase comfortably.
For DC, Sameer Rizvi top-scored with 40* off 24, while Tristan Stubbs added 38, helping them post 155/7. However, their middle-order collapse (69/5 to 134/6) hurt momentum.
Among bowlers, Noor Ahmad (2/22) and Akeal Hosein (1/19, economy 4.75) were the most effective, restricting DC below a competitive total.
