Despite no longer being working members of the Royal Family, Meghan Markle had a packed schedule when she was on a brisk four-day trip in Australia with husband, Prince Harry. Visiting in a private capacity, the former actress also appeared at a women's wellness event where VIP ticket holders paid nearly £1,600 including a selfie with the Duchess.
A new video emerged showing Meghan joining Australian lifestyle YouTubers Sean Skeels and Marley Whatarau in an awkward meet and greet. Some viewers called it a touching moment, but Meghan appeared desperate as critics have accused her of "using other people for attention". In the footage, Meghan was gifted several items that represented Australia including a Bluey plush toy, local beers and a pair of swimming trunks that have the words "Aussie Bum" emblazoned across the back.
As the content creators expressed the details behind each gift, there was a moment Meghan turned to the camera looking somewhat uncomfortable. A viewer commented: "Meghan Markle is just so awkward. She keeps looking at the crew or whoever is filming and part of her entourage. She's not completely focused on Sean and Marley and clearly uncomfortable. She wants to be called 'Royal' but as part of that role, you have to treat everyone the same and not get cringey."
Another added: "She can never do anything on her own always using other people for attention."
At the end of the video, Meghan called Sean and Marley "my boys" when they gifted her a framed photo with their signatures on it. Meghan said: "You are so kind, so you stay in my heart and in my home. Thank you both so much, I'm so happy we got to meet in person. People love your show so much. Your show is amazing because you're both amazing."
While the heartwarming moment was filmed and has since aired on Australian TV networks, I have been left slightly baffled.
It comes as Meghan posted a montage of what appeared to be a wholesome and successful trip but she did not include any footage of her visit to Sean and Marley, which raised questions to online viewers who asked: "She looks extremely uncomfortable and fake. Is that why she is not promoting this video?"
Another added: "She's in a room that appears to be mostly empty except for the crew and her bodyguards. She looks around for support but she's left hanging. No one cares enough to bail her out. This is a glimpse of her 'authentic' self and it isn't that pretty."
Maybe she wanted to keep their meet and greet a surprise but it has proven to just be another desperate attempt at self-promotion.
She has continuously tried to set a new course for her career and the upcoming Mother's Day As Ever merchandise appears to be her latest trick to make mounds of cash by exploiting the family name. It seems that her star is fading and she is on her last straw to save her waning popularity.
