Preparations for Asian Games 2026 intensified, Indian team got big benefit from Sports Ministry’s National Badminton Camp…

The National Coaching Camps supported by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports (MYAS) are playing a vital role in strengthening India’s badminton teams in their preparations for the Asian Games 2026 and the upcoming Olympics 2028. With a sanction of around Rs 1.67 crore, high-performance training camps have been started in three major cities of the country – Hyderabad, Bengaluru and Guwahati.

These camps started from April 10 and will continue till June 30. Their objective is to bring together the top shuttlers of the country and strengthen their technique, fitness and team combination, so that they can perform better in international competitions.

Recently, the Indian men’s team performed brilliantly and won the bronze medal in the Thomas and Uber Cup 2026 held in Horsens, Denmark. After this success, the importance of these camps has increased further.

These training centers include players like Lakshya Sen, Kidambi Srikanth, Ayush Shetty, and star doubles pair Satwiksairaj Rankireddy-Chirag Shetty. In the women’s category, players like PV Sindhu, Trisa Jolly and Tanisha Crasto are also part of the camp.

A total of more than 30 players are training in these camps being run at Pullela Gopichand Badminton Academy in Hyderabad, Center for Badminton Excellence in Bengaluru and National Center of Excellence in Guwahati.

Help of foreign coaches, physios, trainers and analysts is also being taken in these camps, so that the players can get an international level environment. The target is not just the Asian Games but also the Olympics 2028 and other big tournaments.

This initiative is being considered a big step towards taking Indian badminton to new heights.
