Claiming himself close to Rahul Gandhi, a woman was duped of Rs 25 lakh; absconded

A shocking case has come to light from Dehradun, Uttarakhand, where a person used to cheat many people by claiming himself to be close to Rahul Gandhi. According to the police, the accused person called himself Kanishk Singh. Through this false identity, he used to deceive people into joining the party and making them leaders. A few days ago, a woman was trapped in a similar trap, from whom the accused person had demanded Rs 25 lakh. The victim woman told that the accused used to call himself the PA of Rahul Gandhi, who absconded with Rs 25 lakh on April 13. The police have arrested the accused.

 

The name of the victim woman is Bhavna Pandey, who had lodged a complaint against the accused Kanishk at Rampur police station on Sunday. Police officials had started investigation on the basis of the complaint. During investigation, the police came to know that Kanishk alias Gaurav had already duped many people. There is a gang responsible for this fraud, who used to trick people into joining the party with full planning and then make away with lakhs of rupees. According to the police, Gaurav has duped many people not only in Dehradun but also in states like Rajasthan and Bihar. Accused Gaurav has till now embezzled crores of rupees on the basis of false name.

 

 

 

How did Gaurav cheat people?

Police officials had told regarding this matter that Gaurav gathered information about Kanishk Singh by searching on Google. Gaurav created a fake ID in the name of Kanishk Singh on Truecaller app. According to police officials, the accused Gaurav used to extort money not only in Dehradun but from many people in the entire country on the pretext of making them MLAs.

 

Accused Gaurav is a resident of Amritsar, Punjab, who is 42 years old. The police team arrested the accused Gaurav Kumar in Amritsar itself, who will be presented in the court soon.

 

 

Gaurav has cheated lakhs of rupees till now

 

During interrogation, the police had come to know that in 2017, Gaurav had taken Rs 1 crore 90 lakh in the name of getting party tickets for two people from Rajasthan. After this, in 2021, money was also taken from some people in Ludhiana, Punjab. Apart from this, Rs 3 lakh was taken to give a special post in the party to a leader of Bihar in 2025. Accused Gaurav had committed fraud in many similar areas.
