The 48th game of the IPL 2026 sees Delhi Capitals take on Chennai Super Kings at Arun Jaitley Stadium. Both sides have eight points in nine games, and the playoff race is still open for both teams. As with 12 points there are many teams ahead, this is a key game, a defeat for either side here may end all hopes of reaching the knock-out stages.
Delhi have been very inconsistent this season, in one game they scored over 264 yet still lost, and in the very next they were dismissed for just 75. They have managed to get back on track by chasing 226 against Rajasthan Royals in their last game. The side is still finding a settled team but in Mitchell Starc and Pathum Nissanka they have found a well-balanced side. Chennai are not much different in this regard, struggling with fitness, injuries and their current form. However, they have come into the game on the back of a winning performance.
The wicket is still expected to be good for batting, and a high scoring game is more than likely. With the average score here this season being around 210, batting second has been beneficial for all sides. It will not be good news for Delhi as their record has been poor of late, and CSK have traditionally fared well against them. Two struggling sides, who both need the points, this should be a great encounter.
At the toss, Delhi have won and chose to bat first.
