New labor laws: In India, the way employees work is often in the hands of companies. In many places it is seen that the rights of the employees are not respected; rather, some private companies harass them by not paying their salaries on time or not paying them overtime. However, there are labor laws for this. In some companies, there are no rules and rights regarding leaves, gratuity and overtime. In view of this, the government has come out with some new rules and rights for the employees on Labor Day.
This will not only help in maintaining work-life balance of the employees but will also promote new employment models. According to the information received, the process of implementing new codes by combining many old laws has been started.
Rules of leaves encashment, gratuity and overtime
Under the new Labor Code, till now there was a rule in most parts of the country that if an employee is leaving the job, he can encash his leaves. But, now under the new Labor Code, an employee can encash his leaves at any time. Encashing leaves means that you can take money in exchange for your remaining holidays. Apart from this, if you work more than your stipulated time, now you should be given double overtime.
Rules regarding gratuity also changed
According to media reports, earlier an employee could take gratuity from the company only after completing 5 years of service. After completion of 5 years, you were given a few months of your salary as gratuity. But, now under the new labor rules, even if an employee works in any company for only one year, he will still be fully entitled to receive gratuity. Gratuity should be given to him by the company.
