CM Yogi Adityanath increased the honorarium of Shikshamitras to ₹ 18,000 and announced a health cover of ₹ 5 lakh. Attacking the previous governments, he emphasized on education reforms, school facilities and 'School Chalo Abhiyan'.

Gorakhpur. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath launched a scathing attack on the governments before 2017. He said that the previous governments tried to make Shikshamitras assistant teachers ignoring the rules and regulations, which was completely wrong. For this reason, the Supreme Court had to intervene and order the termination of the services of Shikshamitras.

The Chief Minister said that the situation was very serious at that time. About 1.5 lakh families were facing livelihood crisis. These people were serving for 18-19 years and they faced a big crisis when they suddenly lost their jobs. In such a situation, the government decided that their services would not be terminated, but would be taken along and taken forward.

Shikshamitra honorarium increase: increased from ₹3,500 to ₹18,000 per month

CM Yogi said that after the formation of the government in 2017, the honorarium of Shikshamitras was increased from ₹ 3,500 to ₹ 10,000. Now it has been further increased to ₹ 18,000 per month, which has come into effect from April. He made this announcement at the state level Shikshamitra Samman ceremony organized in Gorakhpur.

Solution through dialogue and cooperation: No conflict, positive thinking is necessary

Appealing to Shiksha Mitras, the Chief Minister said that now trade union-like thinking and negativity will have to be abandoned. He said that merely sticking to the demands harms both children's education and society. He said that it is important to work with the spirit of “first the country, then us”. The government has also solved your problems through dialogue and cooperation, and not through confrontation.

Health insurance up to Rs 5 lakh for Shikshamitras

CM Yogi said that all Shiksha Mitras will be given cashless health insurance of up to ₹ 5 lakh on the lines of the Prime Minister. He said that those who have not yet joined this scheme will also be included soon. Basic Education Council has been instructed to provide this facility to all eligible Shikshamitras as soon as possible.

Bank account and nearby posting facility

The Chief Minister said that instructions have been given to open bank accounts of all Shiksha Mitras, so that the honorarium reaches the accounts directly. Along with this, they are being posted in their district or nearby school. Especially female Shiksha Mitras will also be given the facility of transfer to their maternal or in-laws house.

Big change in education: Operation Kayakalp changed the picture of schools

Referring to the changes in the education sector, CM Yogi said that the condition of schools has completely changed under Operation Kayakalp.

  • Earlier the facilities were 30-36%, now it has reached 96-99%
  • Dropout rate has reduced from 19% to 3%
  • Uniforms, bags, shoes, socks and sweaters are being given to 1.60 crore children.

He said that earlier children were not able to read, but now even small children have started reading well.

New education schemes: Nipun Bharat, PM Shri and Atal Tinkering Lab

The Chief Minister said that models like Nipun Bharat Mission, PM Shri School, Atal Tinkering Lab and Atal Residential Schools are developing rapidly in the state. Kasturba Gandhi schools have been upgraded up to class 12 and residential schools are being opened in new development blocks.

Appeal to intensify 'School Chalo Abhiyaan'

The Chief Minister asked Shiksha Mitras to intensify the 'School Chalo Abhiyan' with the opening of schools in July. He suggested that teachers should reach school half an hour earlier every day and contact parents door-to-door. Teach children with love and inspire them. He also said to avoid fighting in school and motivate children to learn through stories and examples.

Shikshamitra Samman Ceremony: Congratulations to 1.43 lakh Shikshamitras

The Chief Minister congratulated 1.43 lakh Shikshamitras and inspired them to work with honesty and dedication. He honored the Shikshamitras selected in the program and also gave checks for increased honorarium.

Release of 'Arunodaya' calendar and interaction with children

During the programme, the Chief Minister released the 'Arunoday' calendar. Its objective is to make prayer meetings a medium for the overall development of children. It includes activities like science, mathematics, language skills, role play, art and communication. The Chief Minister saw the children's models, appreciated them and also interacted with them. He also performed Annaprashan Sanskar for the children and gave gifts to the women.
