New Delhi, 05 May 2026: Kolkata Knight Riders’ mystery spinner Sunil Narine has created history. With his one wicket against Sunrisers Hyderabad, he created a record which no other bowler has achieved in this league. Narayan has become the first bowler to take 200 wickets for a team in IPL. Now he has 201 wickets for KKR.
On Sunday, Sunil Narine bowled 4 overs against Sunrisers Hyderabad, in which he took 2 wickets for 31 runs. He also became the third bowler to score a ‘double century’ of wickets in his IPL career. Narayan is also the first foreign bowler to join this exclusive club. Yuzvendra Chahal holds the record for taking the most wickets in IPL history, he has taken 228 wickets in 182 matches, while Bhuvneshwar Kumar is in second place with 215 wickets in 199 matches. Sunil Narayan is third in this record list with 201 wickets in 197 matches.
Sunil Narine played a key role in KKR’s title wins in 2012, 2014 and 2024. His individual performance has also been praised. Narayan has won the Most Valuable Player award in 2012, 2018 and 2024. He also won the Purple Cap in 2012.
In this match played at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad, Sunrisers Hyderabad were limited to only 165 runs in 19 overs while batting first. For Hyderabad, Travis Head scored the highest score of 61 runs, while Ishan Kishan contributed 42 runs. Varun Chakraborty took three wickets and Sunil Narayan took two wickets for KKR. Then KKR won the match by losing only three wickets in the 19th over. This was KKR’s third consecutive victory.
