Kinnigoli: The Kinnigoli Town Panchayat has taken a major step towards a complete digital system to ensure transparency, faster administration, and citizen-friendly services.
The Panchayat has decided to conduct a door-to-door survey to collect detailed information about all houses, sites, agricultural land, converted land, and population within its limits. The collected data will be uploaded into a software system to create a comprehensive digital database.
There are a total of 18 wards under the Kinnigoli Town Panchayat. Officials have begun the process of creating accurate records of every house and property. This data is expected to help improve administration and enhance tax collection efficiency.
Easier tax payment system
One of the main objectives of the project is to simplify the payment of annual taxes and water bills. The Panchayat is planning to send links to property owners via mobile or WhatsApp at the end of the financial year. These links will include details such as pending taxes, water bills, and total payable amounts. Residents will be able to make payments online without visiting the office, saving time and avoiding queues.
Direct communication with citizens
After the digital system is implemented, official circulars, public notices, tax reminders, and other updates will be sent directly to residents’ mobile phones. This is expected to improve communication between the administration and the public.
Key benefits of the project
- Online payment of taxes and water bills through mobile links
- No need to visit the Panchayat office
- Payment facility from any location
- Accurate details of tax dues and collections
- Reduced workload for Panchayat staff
- Improved transparency and faster record management
Survey team formation
A special team comprising interested students, ward members, and Panchayat staff will be formed to carry out the survey. The team will visit each household to collect details such as resident information, property data, population, building type, and site details.
Once the survey is completed, the data will be uploaded into the software system. By entering the house owner’s name or door number, all related details will be accessible instantly.
Survey to begin soon
The initiative aims to ensure that complete information of all houses and properties in all 18 wards is available with the Panchayat. The proposal has been approved in the general meeting, and the survey is expected to begin soon. The Panchayat aims to become fully digital by the end of the year, said President Gururaj Malligeyangadi.
