New Delhi: On Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed strong disapproval of the recent attacks in Fujairah, a port city in the United Arab Emirates, which left three Indian citizens injured.

This condemnation followed drone strikes that ignited a fire in a significant oil sector area in Fujairah, with the UAE attributing the assault to Iran.

Modi took to social media to state, "I strongly condemn the attacks on the UAE that resulted in injuries to three Indian nationals. Targeting civilians and infrastructure is unacceptable."

He emphasized India's unwavering support for the UAE, advocating for the resolution of disputes through dialogue and diplomatic means.

The Prime Minister highlighted the importance of maintaining safe navigation through the Strait of Hormuz, which is crucial for regional peace, stability, and global energy security.

The incident in Fujairah occurred amid rising tensions in the Strait of Hormuz, where a ceasefire between the US and Iran is under pressure.

This strategic waterway is vital, as it facilitates the passage of approximately one-fifth of the world's oil and gas, and ongoing conflicts have severely impacted shipping routes, leading to soaring oil prices and energy shortages in various nations.

The UAE's defense ministry reported that its air defense systems intercepted 12 ballistic missiles, three cruise missiles, and four drones launched from Iran.

The ministry reassured that it is fully equipped and ready to address any threats, vowing to confront any actions that jeopardize the nation's security.
